Ask in the proposal: Which organizations, task targets, run-as identities and approved changes belong in the order? Define patch exceptions and the accepting PSA owner.
Worksent / MSP NOC
The NOC service information lists NinjaRMM alongside Standard and Premium work plans. NOC service page / 2026-10-15 (external website)
MSP NOC
Choose the work plan: Both Worksent NOC plans list continuous monitoring, alert triage/remediation, patching, AV/EDR administration and daily summaries. The Standard plan marks RMM consulting, backup checks and vendor coordination as excluded; Premium marks them included. Select the plan in the order, separately from shared or exclusively assigned POD staffing. Define the permitted changes, backup-check result and vendor handoff; plan ticks alone do not establish restore validation or security incident response. Ask in the proposal: Select Standard or Premium separately from shared or exclusive POD staffing. Which policy changes and vendor tasks are included, and who owns a failed run or pending reboot?
Seven providers name NinjaOne or its earlier name, NinjaRMM, for the ten NOC and staffing purchases below. Compare monitoring, managed remediation and MSP-directed engineering as separate responsibilities. Confirm the actual modules, operating systems and permissions for your tenant.
Buy an operating responsibility
| Purchase | Decision to put in the order |
|---|---|
| Monitoring and handback | Who examines a triggered condition, opens or updates the right ticket and contacts your on-call engineer? State which changes remain with your team. |
| Managed remediation | Which predefined actions may the NOC run, who approves exceptions and who verifies the result? Separate routine runbook work from policy design or a new automation project. |
| Dedicated engineer | Who assigns daily work and supervises it? Price the staffed window, concurrent people and absence cover. An allocated engineer and a managed outcome are different commitments. |
A dedicated engineer works under your direction; a managed service accepts an agreed outcome. Use the plan details above to compare supervision, staffed hours and permitted actions.
Specify the task before giving access
NinjaOne's scheduled-task documentation (external website), updated 8 July 2026, distinguishes organization, device and group targets. Custom automation can run as System, the current user or a stored credential. Group targeting is restricted to system administrators in that document; establish who owns its setup rather than assuming every NOC technician can create it.
Write one task definition before discussing blanket scripting access:
- Approved automation and revision, its purpose, parameters and supported operating system.
- Allowed organizations and devices, including how a changing group will be reviewed.
- Run-as identity, credential owner and the action permitted on the target.
- Schedule, timezone, expiry, stop condition and person accepting a failed or missed run.
- Ticket destination, useful output and the independent check that closes the work.
The role guide (external website), updated 22 September 2026, says multiple roles grant the highest available access. Inspect the complete assignment with the proposed account. Adding a narrow NOC role does not remove a broader grant held elsewhere.
Close the Windows patch cycle
The Windows OS patch guide (external website), updated 22 September 2026, distinguishes NinjaOne-managed patching from configuring Windows Update settings. The latter mode cannot install patches through NinjaOne. It also separates scan and update schedules, recommends at least an hour between them, and says a pending reboot blocks further scan/apply work until cleared.
That makes the closeout question more useful than a promise to run patching overnight:
| Stage | Answer the proposal must provide |
|---|---|
| Find applicable work | Which policy, inventory, scan result and approval list govern this device? |
| Install in the window | Who may change the schedule or approve an exception, and who owns an offline device that misses it? |
| Handle the restart | Which person may restart this device, under what client authorization and communication rule? |
| Verify and hand back | Who confirms the intended update and service health, and accepts the ticket if a reboot or fault remains? |
Choose a small Windows test set with the MSP. Keep servers needing application-owner approval separate from user workstations. A successful installation command alone does not answer whether an application recovered or whether the next cycle can proceed. Use the broader patch-management buying guide to agree rollback, exceptions and retained duties. Confirm macOS and Linux behavior under their own current documentation and service schedule.
Decide what maintenance mode may hide
The maintenance-mode guide (external website), updated 29 June 2026, distinguishes suppressed notifications, condition evaluation, tasks and patching; options vary by device type. It also says an existing maintenance state can prevent a scheduled maintenance automation from running. Maintenance status can take precedence over another device-health status on the dashboard.
Agree the exact suppression choices, start, end and reason for each planned change. A quiet notification channel or maintenance badge is insufficient closeout. Check the underlying device and application state, the task result and the receiving ticket. Name the person who detects an expired window that has not returned to normal operation.
Agree six bounded acceptance cases
Example pilot cases. Agree the expected result and stopping point, then keep the completed log with the service configuration.
| Proposed case | What to keep with the result |
|---|---|
| Correct target and one excluded device | Actual target list, effective permissions and proof the excluded device stayed outside the approved run |
| Run-as identity | Chosen identity, approved task revision and useful output for the permitted action |
| Missed or failed task | Observed state, retry decision and named ticket owner without unapproved repeated changes |
| Patch awaiting reboot | Installation state, reboot decision, application-owner response and agreed next check |
| Suppressed condition during maintenance | Selected suppression settings, underlying fault state and the outcome when normal evaluation resumes |
| Service exit | Account and credential revocation plus an inventory of recurring tasks, policy changes and remaining owners |
Use the existing NOC pilot log and integration worksheet. Describe observed results without turning one accepted case into a promise about the entire fleet. A failed case needs an owner and a new decision before expansion.
Price the work that remains with your MSP
Count alert investigation, permitted remediation, policy administration and staffed capacity using the selected purchase's own units. Benchmark365's separate investigations and remediations, Flexis's MSP-directed engineer and Worksent's Standard/Premium work plans require different proposal questions. None is priced simply by seeing the NinjaOne name.
Worksent's NinjaOne NOC article (external website) describes its approach to monitoring, automation and operating procedures. Treat this as the supplier's description; obtain the applicable work plan and permitted changes in the order. The article does not settle Standard/Premium exclusions or independently demonstrate service performance.
Use NOC pricing for allowances and quote comparison for complete monthly charges. Put retained engineering, supervision and connector maintenance beside the supplier fees. The product-qualified RFP links above keep NinjaOne as a requirement while you add the actual device scope, approvals and coverage.
