BUYING GUIDE

Outsourced Support for N-able N-central and N-sight

Choose an outsourced NOC or help desk by the work it will own in your N-able environment. Name N-central or N-sight, the working queue, the permitted actions and the charging unit in the request. Three providers name these products for specific services: Benchmark365 names N-central in three NOC plans; Flexis names N-central and N-sight for MANAGE shared NOC and two help desk models; NOC 24/7 names both on its NOC integration pages.

An RMM name identifies a starting lead. Agree whether the supplier operates in your instance, receives tickets through a PSA or email, or provides another working system. Keep product access, service responsibility and the price of the human work together.

N-central NOC: compare the work before the price

The table contrasts Benchmark365 NOC Connect's monthly work allowances with Flexis MANAGE's shared remediation service. NOC 24/7 also names N-central and N-sight and publishes a per-endpoint charging basis without a numeric rate.

Decision Benchmark365 NOC Connect Flexis MANAGE shared NOC
How work arrives Alerts arrive as tickets; Connect includes live two-way PSA integration. The NOC FAQ says the team does not watch dashboards. The service includes monitoring, troubleshooting and remediation using the existing stack. Agree the intake route, working queue and ticket-update owner.
What the quoted work must cover From USD 2,990/month: 10 customer environments, 25 investigations and 10 remediations per month. Size each allowance against your proposed workload. The page describes a shared NOC with remediation. Obtain the billable unit, included volume and excess-work schedule; no numeric rate is shown there.
What still needs approval Define an investigation, a remediation, repeat alerts and additional work. Major Incident Response is an add-on. Define authorized changes, repeat incidents, excluded projects and the point at which work returns to your MSP. Ask how much completed work the shared fee includes.
What remains with your MSP Alert routing, approved runbooks, client scope and an escalation owner must be agreed with the selected plan. Client scope, permitted changes and the receiving escalation owner must be agreed with MANAGE. A dedicated AgilePOD engineer is a different purchase.

The useful first comparison is the same work list in both proposals. If you already have a reliable alert-to-ticket path, ask Connect how that work consumes its published allowances. If you want MANAGE to monitor and remediate an agreed estate, ask for the exact monitoring path, action catalogue and charging schedule. An unpublished price cannot be treated as zero, and a starting price cannot establish the total monthly cost.

For example, choose an approved service restart and describe the signal, client/device, permitted action, verification and next owner if the restart fails. This is a proposed buying scenario, not a reported supplier test. Ask each supplier which parts it accepts, how each part is counted and who continues while an extra charge or restricted action awaits approval. Use the NOC work-allowance example to prepare the volume questions.

Prepare a request for these two NOC services. For an offline proposal, use the Connect service brief and MANAGE service brief. Keep the same estate, action list and staffed window in both; obtain each supplier's counting rules and controlling agreement separately.

This comparison uses the Benchmark365 NOC page and FAQ (external website) and Flexis MANAGE page (external website). Source dates appear beside the service details. MANAGE also names N-sight; the reviewed Benchmark365 NOC page names N-central. Choose the exact product before carrying either offer into your request.

Define where the work happens

Benchmark365's NOC FAQ (external website) describes alerts arriving as tickets and says the team does not watch dashboards. Connect advertises live two-way PSA integration, while Launch lists email intake. Ask how the selected plan receives your N-central signals, returns updates and assigns a failed or duplicate ticket. Product naming alone leaves that operating path to agree.

For Flexis, distinguish the shared MANAGE NOC from user/device help desk billing and an incident pool. Specify the RMM tasks, the PSA owner and the point at which your MSP accepts an escalation. The user/device heading and wording need one agreed billing unit; an incident pool also needs its counting and rollover rules.

Put the queue and integration owner beside each action. If the supplier can see a device but cannot make the required change, name the accepting technician or approver and the handback route. Use the integration worksheet to keep these decisions with the proposed connector.

N-central: separate the visible estate from action rights

N-able's Access Group documentation (external website) assigns the visible customers and devices through an access group. Roles and permissions determine the work the user can perform within that assignment. Agree both the enrolled estate and the allowed actions for the supplier's technician.

The API role guidance (external website) also scopes API-only users through access groups and roles, with separate guidance for interface permissions. Identify the human technician, API identity and their respective duties. A connector's identity should not stand in for the person accepting and completing the ticket.

For an authorized demonstration, use two test customers with similar device names. Show which one the proposed account can reach, which approved task it can perform and what happens when a request concerns the other customer. Keep the configured access group, role and observed outcome with the agreed version of the service.

N-sight: review client groups and shared policy reach

The N-sight client-group guide (external website) describes client-based visibility, automatic membership of new clients in the All Clients Group and the relationship between an Agent Key user's permissions, client group and API results. It also identifies users who can change their own group. Review the proposed account's membership and its ability to alter that membership.

The default-role tables (external website) distinguish viewing, using and configuring features. For example, viewing a Take Control status, starting a session and changing its settings are different permissions. Specify the rights needed for delivery and who retains configuration authority.

Review client membership and policy reach separately. N-able's Integrated Take Control policy guide (external website) warns that a changed policy affects all associated devices and recommends client-specific policies when delegating policy management. Agree who may edit a policy, which clients share it and how an approved change reaches the intended devices.

The same policy guide describes user-approval and timeout options, as well as policy changes in the User Audit Report. Ask for the applicable connection settings and session history separately. A policy-change entry answers a different question from the actions performed during a support session.

Agree service units and retained work

Keep RMM licensing, integration setup and human service charges on separate proposal lines. A work-allowance NOC plan, a user/device desk fee and an incident pool need different counts. Define the included work, period, excess charges and approval for additional work before calculating a total.

Use the NOC allowance example for the difference between unlimited intake and completed work. Use the help desk pricing guide for ticket, user and device definitions. The quote comparison compares amounts after you have aligned the workload and units.

Include the MSP time needed to maintain groups, mappings, policies and escalation. A supplier's service fee does not automatically pay for that retained work or the software licenses used by either party.

Demonstrate the proposed scope

These are proposed acceptance cases using authorized test clients and sanitized requests, rather than results from a listed supplier.

Case Question to settle What to keep with the proposal
Correct client and device Can the proposed account reach the enrolled estate without acting for an unapproved client? Client/device identifiers, assigned scope, role and outcome
Alert-to-ticket round trip Where do a new signal, update and returning fault appear, and who owns a failed update? Linked ticket references, statuses, next owner and expected handback
Action requires approval Does the technician follow the agreed hold and fallback before the restricted change? Requested action, decision owner, approval and actual task history
Shared policy or new client Which devices would a policy edit affect, and how does new-client enrollment change access? Policy assignments, affected scope and the approved enrollment/change rule
End of supplier access Can the old supplier stop acting while the retained team keeps the required monitoring and support? Identity/integration scope, authorized access check and replacement owner

The NOC pilot and help desk pilot provide reusable case logs. Keep first attempts, corrections and retests together, with a scope decision for the functions actually observed.

Carry the scope into the order and exit plan

Attach the product, working system, enrolled clients/devices, role, action list and commercial unit to the exact service request. State the owner of group membership, API identities, policy maintenance and failed synchronization. Use the service-specific RFP links above so another package's conditions do not replace the one you evaluated.

Use the access handover log to plan the supplier's offboarding alongside continued MSP coverage. Identify which provider identities and integrations end, which management tools remain with the MSP and who checks the result.
