The service sources below name Autotask for helpdesk work. Ask each candidate which ticket fields, notes, attachments and approvals its purchased workflow carries, in which direction, and who owns a failed update.
Helpdesk purchases that name Autotask
Nine providers name Autotask for a help desk service. Open a purchase for its source and request questions; compare the actual scope before arranging a demonstration.
31West / MSP help desk
The MSP helpdesk page lists Autotask PSA among its supported tools. Source / 2026-10-15 (external website)
Agreement to settle: 31West advertises white-label MSP help desk. Its general service terms separately restrict sharing, resale and aggregation for multiple companies. Confirm which MSP-specific agreement authorizes the proposed arrangement. General service terms / 2026-10-16 (external website) MSP help desk page / 2026-10-15 (external website)
Ask in the proposal: Which MSP-specific agreement, holiday calendar and launch milestones apply? Identify the Autotask clients, queues, ticket actions and retained escalations included in this order.
Benchmark365 / White-label help desk
The FAQ lists Autotask integration and says staff work in Benchmark365 systems rather than inside the MSP ticketing system. Help desk FAQ / 2026-10-17 (external website)
Ask in the proposal: Which notes, statuses and approvals synchronize back to Autotask, and who accepts a failed update or a returned request?

Sherweb / Helpdesk
The Helpdesk SOW lists Autotask in its HDC API compatibility list; HDC activity is also mirrored internally. Helpdesk SOW / 2026-10-17 / PDF p. 3 (external website) Helpdesk SOW / 2026-10-17 / PDF p. 7 (external website)
Ask in the proposal: Which HDC changes reach Autotask, where is the complete conversation held, and who accepts the ticket when it reaches the agreed handback boundary?
Supportwave / Dedicated Helpdesk
The service page names Autotask for work inside the MSP tools. This entry uses Dedicated; Shared access entitlement is a separate question. Helpdesk plans and questions / 2026-10-18 (external website)
Ask in the proposal: Which Dedicated PSA/RMM rights and automated ticket operations are included, and who accepts returned work when those operations fail?
Read Supportwave: Dedicated Helpdesk / Build an RFP for this service
Uptime / Inbay / White-label help desk
The helpdesk FAQ names Autotask. The separate published SuperOps example describes another product workflow. Help desk product FAQ / 2026-10-16 (external website)
Ask in the proposal: Which Autotask updates, note audiences and ownership transitions are actually supported? Define them separately from the SuperOps two-way example.

White Label IT / Full-Service Desk
The helpdesk FAQ names Autotask. This entry uses Full-Service Desk; Triage+ and Hybrid are separate choices. Source / 2026-10-16 (external website)
Ask in the proposal: Which technical actions happen in Autotask, and how do client communication, retained escalation and the selected service boundary appear in the ticket?
Read White Label IT: Full-Service Desk / Build an RFP for this service
The entries retain their own service and source date. A NOC-only list, generic Datto label or Datto RMM mention does not become an Autotask helpdesk statement. Use the selected service when preparing the request, then identify the actual working queue and scope in the proposal.
Separate the integration identity from the ticket owner
Autotask's API-user guidance (external website) says API-only resources cannot log into its interface or be assigned to tickets and tasks. Creating an item through an integration is different from being its assigned technician. Ask which human resource or queue accepts the work after a ticket is created, transferred or escalated.
That distinction matters when a provider says it integrates with Autotask while staff work in its own system. For example, Benchmark365's FAQ (external website) describes that working arrangement. Decide who sees the complete conversation, who changes the next owner, and who owns the request while it waits after handback.
Use a supported test account and the proposed technician role. An administrator demonstration can hide queue and client restrictions. Keep the requested remote actions and identity-sensitive work within the approved verification and authority boundary.
Scope API access separately from an engineer login
The maker's REST security guidance (external website) describes a broad default API-only security level and configurable copies that restrict access. A separate integration identity is not automatically a minimally privileged one. Have the permission owner approve the actual modules and data needed by the desk workflow.
Identify the integration owner, credential/tracking configuration, change process and revocation path. If the connector acts on behalf of a contact or resource, agree its allowed impersonation and the attribution that appears on the resulting item. The same maker guidance explains that objects otherwise appear under the API user; that name alone does not identify the technician who performed the support work.
Do not interpret an empty result from restricted API access as proof that a ticket or linked item does not exist. Define the authorized way to investigate a failed lookup before creating a duplicate or changing the client mapping.
Check client mapping before billable work is posted
Match the approved client, contact, site and contract at intake. Include any permitted parent/child account relationship in that mapping. Test similar names across unrelated clients rather than relying on a display name alone.
The Tickets reference (external website) restricts company changes after associated work has been posted. It also describes effects on linked information when an unposted ticket changes company. Treat a mapping correction as an owned repair process, not an assumption that the integration can safely move the ticket later.
Ticket categories can impose their own queue and work-type requirements. Ask the supplier to exercise the categories and required fields your MSP actually uses, including a request that must remain in a retained escalation queue.
Decide who can see each note
For Autotask's outsourced-ticket copy, the TicketNotes reference (external website) says notes published to All Autotask Users are displayed in that copy. Establish whether your purchase uses this feature, direct access or a separate integration; the word internal in another system does not define who can see the copied note.
Use synthetic notes for three audiences: buyer-only operational context, material the external desk needs, and an approved client-facing update. Inspect them from the actual receiving role or copy. Agree which fields and attachments travel, what remains restricted and which system holds the final approval and conversation.
The same reference warns about a text-only REST round trip removing rich text and inline images from a note description. Check a formatted procedure and an inline image before and after the proposed update path. Test ordinary file attachments on their own and document their actual behavior separately from note formatting.
Exercise six workflow boundaries
Use authorized synthetic clients and tickets, with the supplier and MSP agreeing the expected outcome first. These are proposed acceptance checks, not results from a provider test.
| Boundary to exercise | Observation to retain |
|---|---|
| Similar contacts in two unrelated clients | Correct approved client/contact/contract at intake; a named repair owner if mapping fails before work is posted |
| Integration creates a ticket | Actual receiving resource or queue, visible work ownership and the next accepting escalation owner |
| Buyer-only and client-facing notes | Actual audience in the source, receiving role and any outsourced copy; an approval boundary before sending a client reply |
| Formatted note and inline image | Meaning and required content before and after a REST update; separate results for ordinary attachments |
| Restricted lookup or failed update | Visible failure and original ticket reference, authorized investigation, retry/duplicate handling and current owner |
| Returned work and service exit | Accepted handback, complete usable history and separate revocation for integration and human access |
Include a close/reopen sequence and an approval hold in the same sample. Map the actual configured statuses instead of assuming the provider's resolved state means the client request is complete. Keep the time spent repairing sync failures and accepting returned work in the retained-MSP cost estimate.
Keep the acceptance in your existing worksheet
Use the integration worksheet for direction, mapping, permissions, error handling and offboarding. Attach the sample ticket and note outcomes to the help desk pilot, then put the accepted workflow and remaining questions into the RFP.
For a wider shortlist, compare the helpdesk service choices and billing bases. Keep Autotask ownership and note visibility separate from the HaloPSA calendar/contract workflow and NinjaOne device/action mapping.
Autotask documentation checked 19 October 2026. It describes product capabilities; your proposal must define how the provider sets up the workflow.
